A solar panel is a mechanism that converts the solar rays it receives directly into usable energy, either for immediate use or storage. Solar panels are clean, silent, and do not harm the environment. They save a significant amount of energy, which can be easily noticed at the end of the month. The required maintenance is minimal, also offering a long useful life. In rural areas or those far from power lines, they allow access to electricity without depending on those systems. Probably the most important advantage is that it is the only system that allows a continuous supply of renewable energy, whether there is sun or not.

The company ENERGÉTICA is a development institution, civil, private, non-profit, located in Cochabamba - Bolivia. It is authorized to operate within its specialty throughout the national territory. Through the promotion of the diversification of energy supply sources, its efficient use, and the utilization of renewable energies, it contributes to environmental conservation. Due to these characteristics, in the 2015 fiscal year, it was selected by the Project for the supply and installation of two solar panels at the hospital of the Caja Nacional de Salud located in the city of Uyuni.

The material and installation of a solar panel costs USD 1,000. The project was implemented in order to provide benefits to the hospital, such as savings on electricity service payments and providing them with a continuous energy source that will be very useful during power supply cuts in the city, taking into account that a hospital must keep many pieces of equipment active.

This mechanism was first implemented in the 2015 fiscal year, reducing, with the installation of the two panels, 2 tons of CO2e in one year, which over their 10-year useful life will neutralize the footprint of the Dakar rally during its passage through Bolivia, amounting to 20 tons of CO2e.
